It’s January in New Orleans, a bit rainy, a little on the chilly side, and one of those days you want to walk in a bar, pull up a chair and order a drink. We were drawn into Krazy Korner on Bourbon Street mid-afternoon and what we found when we went inside was an amazing band, Dwayne Dopsie and The Zydeco Hellraisers.
The band was amazing and when we first walked in, Alex McDonald, the washboard player, was doing a solo and it was simply mesmerizing. You just couldn’t take your eyes off of him playing.
So we settled in and I started shooting. As the afternoon went on, our group had gotten CDs and I had gotten the chance to chat with Dwayne Dopsie, who has the title of “America’s Hottest Accordion” player. He took it to an incredible level and had the audience totally engaged.
For further information on this incredible band, check them out at http://www.dwaynedopsie.com and also like them on Facebook at Fans of Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers. They are touring and might be in a city near you.
Their most recent CD, “The One,” is out and you really have to check it out.
So next time you’re in New Orleans, look up this band. They may be playing on Bourbon Street and it will be a night to remember!
